A few months ago one of the rocking chairs that we have on our front porch broke. Matt tried to fix it and it did work for a while, but I think the wood is just too worn out. Earlier this week my Dad stopped by and brought me 2 brand new rocking chairs and a table to match! There is just something about rocking chairs on a front porch that makes me feel happy to be home.
The thing is, these chairs are completely unfinished, which means it is up to ME to figure out how to finish them. Hmmm….
Our previous set of rockers were black, so I could always keep it traditional and paint these new ones black too. I love how sharp the black looks on our front porch…. but it isn’t very exciting.

White is also a really nice traditional color, but I think it might be a little too plain for our porch. I do love how the white looks in this picture against the white house and white columns. Very Southern.

I am loving this dusty grey color on these rockers! Its a nice split between being traditional and a little more playful.
There is definitely a part of me that wants to get really creative and do a fun color like this mint! I mean, I could always repaint them later right?

I absolutely LOVE these red rockers on this porch! But, unfortunately, I don’t think they would really go with our house, since I think they belong in more of a mountain/cabin setting. Plus our house is a slight green which would make it look like Christmas on our porch all year long. Ha!

Of course, I dont have to paint them at all. I could always stain them for a natural and classic look.

There are so many possibilities, I am just going to have to take a paint fan-deck home with me tonight and think about it.
What color would you paint your rocking chairs if you had to choose?

Hi Sarah! I saw your comment on the Blog Class FB page and I wanted to comment on how simply beautiful your blog is. I love the cleaniness of the page and ease with which you can cruise through it. Oh…and I love your name…haha Good luck with your blog!
Thanks Sarah! I am really glad that you took the time to look around, and I really appreciate your encouragement!
You could always do a house divided: Auburn vs. UGA. Love the chairs and table!! Have fun with your project- excited to see what you decide! Suzanne
Hi Sarah! I also saw your comment at Jones Design Company and immediately came and subscribed! Your blog is lovely. I love the minty-green chairs. I think they’d look pretty painted with any of Annie Sloan’s chalk paint!
Thank you so much Katie! I really enjoy your blog as well. That is a great idea to use some of Annie Sloan’s paint, she has some great colors in her line!
Sarah,
It is so lovely. I am one of the few, so far, that have taken the class and not been a designer. I have so enjoyed all the blogs. I want to congratulate you on a job very well done.
