I came to the realization this week that when I have a task ahead of me, I am 10x more likely to get it done right away if a component of the task is pretty.
For example:

I wouldn’t mind cleaning the whole dang house on a Saturday if the cleaning supplies that I was using looked like these.

“Your’e telling me that I need to make 2 dozen cupcakes for a baby shower?!!?”…. no problem…as long as I can wear this adorable apron while I make them

Laundry wouldn’t be a chore at all in a room like this. I LOVE how the detergents and cleaners are organized in pretty jars.

These garden hoses are so cute I would probably end up watering the neighbors plants too just so I could have them out in the yard longer.

Bills. Taxes. Warranties. To-do lists. Insurance…. The ONLY way these tasks could put a smile on my face is if I had an organization system like this on my desk to make them see a little less scary.

I would definitely be able to get my sewing done with a set up like this… watch out Project Runway!

Grocery shopping would be such a breeze if I had a great tote bag like this to bring food home in.
Productivity more often than not is directly related to motivation. If we are motivated then we get more done. So, if you are like me, and pretty things or great design motivated you then plan your home accordingly. If you dread cooking, but you know its a task that must get done, then make you kitchen the most inspiring room in the house. If you feel good when you are in the kitchen then cooking won’t seem like such a chore. The same goes for any space where work must be done, make the space somewhere that you enjoy being and see how your productivity changes, even if the tasks themselves don’t.

I have a great looking teal garden hose from Target – I got it because it coils up, so I can hide it a bit, but I must admit that I smile every time I turn it on – I love the color so much!
