My living room has been getting a lot of love lately! Maybe it is because it is the first room you see when you come into our home, or perhaps because we spend the most time in this room… but honestly, I think the reason our living room has been getting the most updates lately is simply because I have had the most ideas for it!
Anyway, here are a few of the updates that have been going on around the Barksdale house lately:
We got 2 new mint colored garden stools for our entry from One Kings Lane for a steal!
And our coffee table got a serious make-over. (All that used to be on the coffee table were coasters and then scattered remote controls and magazines… not cute)
First, I am really excited about the terrarium! My sweet Mother-in-law gave me that giant jar last time we were home and i just couldn’t resist making a nice terrarium for our living room.
It was really simple to make once I had all of the “ingredients”. I got the plants and white rocks from West Elm, the dirt from Home Depot and the brown rocks came from my neighbor’s driveway. ha!
I am also really excited about this new tray I got from West Elm. We just needed a way to organize those scattered things on the table since (remotes, coasters, magazines, etc.) since our coffee table is not very big. The best part is, if we want more space on the table, for playing cards or for a snack, we can just move the tray and viola… the table is clear!
I also gave our coasters a little make-over by painting the edges gold to make them look more like a set. Our coasters are not really coasters… they are samples of a resin material that I used to use when I was working in commercial interior design. (I will post more about this later)
Last but not least…. our lamp got a new shade! This is a hand me down lamp and I really like the bade, but the shade was making it look a little dated. I scored this shade from Anthropologie on sale this weekend and I think it works pretty well!
